You’re a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer who wants to lead projects and have a clear influence on how they’re delivered. At Stantec, you’ll join our Buildings team in Birmingham, working across multidisciplinary projects from early feasibility through to construction. You’ll be part of a collaborative environment where civil engineering is fully integrated with other disciplines, giving you the opportunity to shape both design and delivery while developing your leadership.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will lead the development and delivery of civil engineering design solutions across a range of building projects, taking responsibility for technical quality, programme, and client outcomes. You’ll be involved from concept through to construction, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, and aligned with wider project objectives.
Your work will include the design of earthworks, drainage, roads, and external works, alongside the preparation of plans, reports, and technical submissions. You’ll liaise with local authorities and stakeholders to secure approvals, including highways and drainage applications, while maintaining strong communication with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Alongside technical delivery, you’ll contribute to project and commercial management—supporting fee proposals, defining scope, and managing programme—while mentoring junior engineers and supporting their development within the team.
YOUR IMPACT
You’ll play a key role in shaping how developments are planned and delivered, influencing layouts, infrastructure, and long-term site performance. Your work will support projects that are practical, compliant, and aligned with environmental and regulatory requirements.
Internally, your impact will be seen in the strength of delivery and team capability. By leading projects and developing engineers, you’ll help build a consistent, high-performing environment while progressing your own leadership and client-facing influence.
