The energy sector is undergoing a period of rapid transformation, driven by increasing demand, evolving regulation, ambitious carbon reduction targets, and accelerating technological innovation. This is a pivotal moment to be part of an industry shaping a more sustainable future.
We are looking to connect with experienced Principal Protection & Control Engineers who are passionate about making a difference and want to play a key role in this transition. Joining our industry-leading Energy team offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of technically challenging and impactful projects across the UK, supporting major clients at the forefront of change.
As a Principal Protection & Control Engineer, you will be part of a highly collaborative and knowledgeable team delivering projects across multiple technical disciplines. You will work on diverse schemes, including HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, overhead lines, and connection projects, as well as refurbishment and new-build developments.
You will take projects from early-stage concept and FEED through to detailed design, providing support during construction and energisation. Working on systems up to 400kV, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients, contributing to the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality engineering solutions.
Alongside core project delivery, you will also have the opportunity to engage in innovation-focused initiatives, including standardisation, technology assessment, and working with suppliers to explore and implement new products and services.
Your Impact
In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliable and safe operation of electrical networks by delivering high-quality protection and control solutions. Your work will directly influence the performance and resilience of key infrastructure, helping clients meet evolving demands while navigating the complexities of the energy transition.
By developing robust designs, reviewing third-party deliverables, and applying your technical expertise to protection systems, you will help drive consistency, quality, and compliance across projects. Your involvement in commissioning activities and design reviews will ensure that systems are implemented effectively and perform as intended.
Beyond technical delivery, you will be a valued contributor to a growing and collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge and supporting continuous improvement. Through your work, you will help deliver innovative, sustainable solutions that address industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges, making a tangible impact on the future of energy in the UK.
